Dinfo Keyword Search Tips

back to main help

The data contained in the Dinfo website is split into two separate databases, the Dinfo Directory, and Advice Library,

The Dinfo search engine will search for your keyword (or organisation name) in either Directory or Library Ensure you specify the required database, by selecting the appropriate option beside the search box. Remember Dinfo Directory contains product and service providers whereas Advice Library offers access to disability specific information.

Listings will appear for all organisations in that database that contain the keyword in either their organisation name, or within a description of their services. Some popular words will obtain very high volume search results in the directory (such as wheelchair) this is because of the vast number of organisations within the directory that are associated with this keyword. Rather than scrolling through them all you may be better served using the other navigation methods.

If your keyword search produces no results try checking your spelling, or typing just a partial organisation name, a more general type of disability or area of interest. Ensure you have selected the required database. If your keyword search still produces no results try using the other navigation methods.

Though we retain details of thousands of organisation in the Dinfo databases, many of them are by no means comprehensive. The Dinfo search engine will only recognize words with the exact same spelling as your keyword within an organisation’s name or the description they have supplied to us. Our ultimate aim is to include relevant searchable keywords in every organisation’s description in both the Dinfo Directory and Advice Library and we are working hard to achieve this - until such time we are limited by the information we have available so please bear with us.
