The data contained in the Dinfo website is split into two separate databases, the Dinfo Directory, and Advice Library,
The general rule is that listings contained in the Directory are commercial companies whereas Advice Library contains website links to non-profit making organisations. That said we do included some local charities offering appropriate services in the Directory where we feel this is beneficial to our visitors
The Dinfo Advice Library is a collection of website links to charities and other non-profit making organisations that offer useful and relevant advice and information about particular aspects of disability. As the geographical location of these organisations is for the most part irrelevant for our users information purposes, we have formatted the data in the library differently to that in the Dinfo Directory.
The Advice library listings are ordered alphabetically by organisation name, each listing contains a direct hyperlink to the organisation’s website and a description of the resources they offer. At Dinfo we believe that our visitors will be better able to access impartial advice and information from non profit making organisations that are experienced in dealing with different aspects of disability, rather than commercial companies who’s agenda may be less impartial. Therefore we will not consider including commercial companies within the library except potentially in extreme circumstances where they offer a resource or area of expertise not covered by any non-profit making organisation that would be of benefit to our visitors.
Users may access the library by selecting Advice Library from the menu, a box will appear titled Sub-Categories that contains an alphabetical list of letters. (A letter will appear only if we have an organisation beginning with that letter listed in the Library)Library Listings will appear below.
Users may browse through the whole library by scrolling through the pages; alternatively select a letter to display all organisations listed beginning with that letter. To return to search the whole of the Library, click on the red library link as it appears in your search history
Each listing contains a brief description of the nature of the organisation activity, and a hyperlink to their website, which when clicked will open up in a new window. To return to Dinfo, close the window. Where available we have also included an email link to enable you to contact the organisation directly.
Users may also search the Library using the keyword search. This may be useful in finding a help and advice resource for a particular aspect of disability, or to locate an organisation by name or area of expertise. The descriptions contained within each library listing are searchable via the Dinfo search engine, this will display all listings which contain your keyword in either the organisation name or description
